OBJECT: Studies of current situation of São João de Sorocaba Landfill biogas generation to enable Carbon Credit generation through CDM/Kyoto Protocol implementation.

LOCATION: Sorocaba, SP

Main Activities

  • Assessment of the quantity of waste disposed of at the landfill since its implementation;
  • Assessment of current and future landfill biogas production and the impact of ending waste disposal on biogas generation;
  • Technical and economic feasibility study for implementing a biogas collection, metering and treatment system to generate carbon credits;
  • Estimation of carbon credits obtainable through implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol;
  • Interim report assessing the quantity of waste disposed of at the landfill;
  • Final report presenting the complete study and estimated feasibility of carbon-credit generation.
